Ensemble Odyssee

Ensemble Odyssee

The core members Anna Stegmann (recorder), Eva Saladin (violin), Georg Fritz (recorder/oboe), and Andrea Friggi (harpsichord) combine since 2013 significant expertise in historical performance practice with the joy of bringing new repertoire to light. They perform regularly in different ensemble settings across Europe. As a chamber group, Ensemble Odyssee was prize-winner of the prestigious International Van Wassenaer Concours in 2011.

For special projects they expand their ensemble to baroque orchestra. In this setting, they recorded five internationally well received CDs for the German label Pan Classics. A CD in collaboration with countertenor Filippo Mineccia was released in January 2016 on Glossa to international critical acclaim.

Ensemble Odyssee has performed at notable venues and festivals across Europe such as the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht, Thüringer Bachwochen, Summerwinds Festival, Trigonale Festival and others. Their concerts are regularly broadcasted live by Deutschland Radio Kultur, MAX Avondconcert (radio4 NL), Czech Radio and others.

Collaborations with prominent guest soloists include names such as Raffaella Milanesi (soprano), Claron McFadden (soprano), Marc Pantus (bass), and Filippo Mineccia (countertenor).

I attended Ensemble Odyssee’s CD presentation concert at the Greenwich Early Music Festival 2016, and was immediately struck by the spontaneity, tangible joy and filigree ornamentation exuded by these players. This live advocacy for Babell completely won me over, and their newly-released disc does not disappoint, combining artistic excellence and integrity with a glorious edginess and unflinchingly direct concept of sound and musical intention. […] Ensemble Odyssee play this music as though their lives depended on it…”. Fatima Lahham, Oxford Early Music, juli 2017
