Mislav Lucić

Mislav Lucić (Rottweil, Germany, 1995) began his musical education at the Varaždin School of Music, studying both solo voice and organ. He later enrolled in the Church Music program (organ major) at the Institute of Church Music at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Zagreb, and in 2020 began vocal studies at the Zagreb Academy of Music—initially in the class of Tomislav Mužek, and later with Helena Lucić Šego.
He has delivered numerous acclaimed performances both in Croatia and abroad, interpreting major works from the global oratorio and concert repertoire. Highlights include Christmas Oratorio, St. Mark Passion, and Magnificat by J.S. Bach; Messiah, Judas Maccabaeus, Israel in Egypt, and La resurrezione by G.F. Handel (the latter performed at Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall as part of the “Lisinski Saturdays” concert series); Requiem and Coronation Mass by W.A. Mozart; Messa di Gloria by G. Puccini; and Carmina Burana by C. Orff. A standout among his performances is his appearance in Handel’s Messiah, marking the 25th anniversary of the Croatian Baroque Ensemble in the “Lisinski Saturdays” series.
He has collaborated with many renowned conductors and ensembles, including Tomislav Fačini, Laurence Cummings, Ivan Repušić, Gábor Hollerung, Ivan Hut, the Croatian Baroque Ensemble, the Zagreb Soloists, the Croatian Radio and Television Choir, the Varaždin Chamber Orchestra, Orquestra Barocca Casa da Música, Capella Savaria, Ensemble Antiphonus, and the Ivan Goran Kovačić Academic Choir.
Lucić has also appeared on the opera stage, performing the role of Goro in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly in a co-production between the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin and the Marin Držić Theatre in Dubrovnik, conducted by Ivan Hut and directed by Marin Blažević. He received particular praise for his performance in the title role of the prodigal son in the world premiere of Anđelko Igrec’s opera The Return of the Prodigal Son, directed by Tara Morikawa at the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin.
He has refined his interpretation of Baroque music under the mentorship of Catherine Denley and Julia Gooding at the Æstas Musica summer seminar, led by artistic directors Andres Helm and Adrian Butterfield.
Lucić regularly performs at numerous festivals, including the Varaždin Baroque Evenings, Füßener Festtage Alter Musik, Zagreb Music Spring, Festival of Passion Heritage, Heferer Series, Zagreb Advent Classic Fest, and the Musical Evenings in St. Donatus.
He is the recipient of the Ivan Werner Award from the Varaždin Baroque Evenings and the Croatian Youth Music Association Award, recognizing his outstanding artistic achievements as a young performer.
