Girandola Quartett

Girandola Quartett

The Girandola Quartett was founded in 2018 in Basel, Switzerland, where its four members — each from a different country — met during their studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis: Eleonora Bišćević (traverso flute), Lukas Hamberger (violin), Corinne Raymond-Jarczyk (viola), and Ekachai Maskulrat (cello).
The quartet received significant artistic guidance from renowned professors such as Marc Hantaï, Pierre-André Taillard, and Jörg-Andreas Bötticher. In 2018, the ensemble won the Schola Cantorum’s internal competition Vier Jahreszeiten, and in 2020, it was a finalist at the international Biagio Marini Competition.
Specializing in the performance of flute and string quartets from the Classical and Early Romantic periods, the members of Girandola Quartett perform on historical instruments or faithful replicas, interpreting the repertoire in accordance with the aesthetic principles of the era. The ensemble is particularly dedicated to rediscovering forgotten works for this instrumentation — a commitment that, for example, led to a collaboration with musicologist Darija Andžaković on the first edition and contemporary premiere of a quartet by Matthias Sperger.
Girandola Quartett regularly performs in Switzerland, France, Germany, and Austria, and has appeared at prestigious festivals such as the Festival de Saintes at the Abbaye aux Dames and forum alte musik : vorarlberg.
