Marcus Mohlin
Marcus Mohlin was born 1989 in Stockholm, Sweden. He began playing the piano at the age of 6 and was later introduced to the harpsichord when he took part in a school project led by teacher Peter Spissky, concert master of Concerto Copenhagen. Marcus studied harpsichord under Mayumi Kamata and Ulf Söderberg at the early music department (Collegium Musicum) of The Royal college of Music in Stockholm. During his studies he also took part in masterclasses with Ton Koopman and Rinaldo Alessandrini.
Today Marcus makes a living as a freelance musician traveling all over Europe playing concerts. He has performed together with personalities from the baroque world such as Lars-Ulrik Mortensen, Rachel Podger, Alfredo Bernardini, Jordi Savall, and has been invited to most of the big orchestras in Scandinavia, among them The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Drottningholms Baroque Ensemble, Concerto Copenhagen and The Danish Radio Orchestra.
One of his Swedish chamber music groups, Ensemble Flautino, has been rewarded with several scholarships from The Royal Swedish Academy of Music and in 2015 they recorded the complete Bach – Flute sonatas. Also in 2015 a Cd with Bach’s concerti for 2-4 cembali was released, featuring Marcus as a soloist together with Trevor Pinnock, Lars-Ulrik Mortensen, Marieke Spaans and Concerto Copenhagen.
